Duke Energy STEM Grant

Duke Energy Stem Grant Presentation

The Latta School District was awarded a grant in the amount of $13,150.00 from Duke Energy on Friday, April 10, 2015 during a presentation in the Ellis Performing Arts Center. Mindy Taylor from Duke Energy presented the award to the 7th grade PLTW Design and Modeling class during the ceremony. The funds will be used to support the STEM program at Latta Middle School.

The Happy Feet Plus Program, sponsored by the Latta Rotary Club, the Latta High School Interact Club, Latta Elementary School, Latta Middle School, Latta High School, Latta School District, and Goody's Department Store in Dillon allowed 120 school children to go on a shopping spree for shoes, socks, pants, shirts, dresses, skirts, belts, and other clothing items.

This year was a new record high for funding, and $24,000 in retail was spent on the children during the event.
